I don't know why the station trusted me to field produce CMA Fest this past weekend but I am so thankful they did. I learned so much from the two days I spent out on the field.
I had a call time of 5 a.m. at the station both Thursday and Friday so I slept lightly in constant fear of being late.
Thursday went smoothly, despite the fact I had no idea what I was doing when we first showed up, I figured it out quickly and got the hang of it.
For those of you who don't know what field producing is, basically what my job was, was to make sure all of the talent and publicist found their way to us so we could do a live shot of the talent singing their latest single. Then after they finished, I would tweet out a picture of them and post an Instagram story to promote their music.
All morning I was getting random calls from people asking me where they should park and where I am supposed to tell them to go. Considering that I just moved to Nashville a month ago, the street names they were calling out to me meant nothing which made my job that much harder.
The only problem I ran in to was the first artist was ALMOST late, he showed up just in time for his sound check. I wasn't freaking out on the outside, but my world was falling apart on the inside.
I knew it was a big deal they were giving me a job that would usually be a paid position, so I didn't want to screw things up.
Friday was the same thing for the morning show and then that afternoon Kaylin (the Digital Media Producer that I have been working under all summer) set it up to where I could go to this event at the Country Music Hall of Fame called "The Next Women Of Country". It was so fun, other than the fact that it was blazing hot outside and parking was expensive/hard to find, I thought it was a pretty cool experience.
I have never been a country music girl but CMA Fest may have convinced me that it isn't so bad. I never realized how many really talented artists out there that are just waiting to be discovered.
XOXO,
Annie
